Registered for the PMC

Friday, February 24th, 2012

“Someday” has arrived!  I have officially registered for the Pan-Mass Challenge!

You may now support my ride — just follow this link to My PMC Profile and you will be able to read about Why I Ride — and contribute to my ride.

My excitement is building.  Weather here has been very supportive of riding, and I managed to ride a 15 mile, 3 state loop around the corners of Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts this past week.  Nothing like the PMC ride, but a great start for my training.

PMC Ride Choice

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

As I look ahead to riding the Pan-Mass Challenge I find myself faced with the big decision of ride choice. Each of the rides presents its own challenge, not the least of which is the minimum fund-raising commitment, but for me it’s also giving consideration to any physical limitations which could either limit or prevent my riding – I’ve never ridden more than 25 miles at a time, and that was at least 20 years ago.

When one signs on to ride they are encouraged to select an appropriate ride for their training, time and fund-raising commitment.  Taking on this ride is unlike anything I have ever done before – at any level.  It is only in complete faith that I commit to the fund-raising, just believing that those who have said they would support my ride will in fact do so.

Then there is the ride itself, my first choice of ride would be the 2 day ride beginning in Sturbridge and ending in Provincetown.  It is the hardest route, yet it is these riders who pass my home — and that is really the ride I want to do — can I?  My mind says yes, I’m waiting for my body to agree.

February New England Biking

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Amazingly enough, this Massachusetts weather has been cooperating and actually allowed me to venture out on my new wheels. In spite of the cold and wind, the 40-50 degree, snowless weather has allowed me to ride some 20 miles or so, getting used to the new wheels, and some of the hills in the area. Pan-Mass Challenge here I come. Will be registering shortly.
