Today is the first day of the Pan-Mass Challenge – a supersized fund-raising bicycle marathon of sorts to benefit cancer research and Dana Farber. On this morning as it passed through the town of Mendon, Massachusetts, I once again was at the side of the road to cheer and encourage the riders going by, and I wasn’t the only one for sure. The short .1 mile roadside I cheer from sported a minimum of 20 people dotted along the route to cheer. Watching television broadcasts of the event, and hearing the riders stories is always moving, and cheering on the riders a humbling experience. For years now I’ve said “I’d love to ride” but have not made the necessary sacrifices to do so.
I wonder, will this coming year be the year I make it happen? Time will tell!
